Sometimes, I feel like I make people feel guilty about not exercising - and that's when I'm not even trying! Believe me, I can really put a guilt trip on - just ask my family! Usually I just give a big smile, nod my head and say, "Come on, then! Come try it out!" Sometimes they do, and usually, they get hooked! That's the beautiful thing about being active. It truly does make you feel better! That, in turn, feeds into other areas of your day . . .whether you choose to sit or stand while talking on the phone, what you choose to eat for lunch, whether that chocolate candy is really worth it, making a choice to take a stroll after dinner. It really becomes contagious, as does hanging out with more active people and doing more active things.
So, maybe you haven't been to the gym in 5 years, Heck, maybe it's been 10. That's no excuse to be inactive and tired. Just put one foot in front of the other and start to take a walk. Just see where that leads . . . I'm thinking you'll feel better and have more energy!
By the way, this Fit Bit thing I've been wearing all day has REALLY made me aware of taking more steps and adding more activity into my day, other than a workout! This is what it looks like so far today:
My husband has started a little "healthy" competition to see who has more steps, etc. I'm thinking he'll do much better than I as he is one of those constant fidgeters - the type that never sits down and walks around the house while on a phone call. He did have a much better workout than I did today, though. I'm still babying my calf so am staying away from a lot of high intensity moves. Therefore, the rowing maching and the bike were my cardio today. I'm planning on stepping it up tomorrow, so maybe I'll beat him
then. . . I'm not quite ready to give it up to him though. Maybe I'll just take a few loads of laundry upstairs just for fun!
I hope you're finding a way to keep moving and if it's guilt that makes you put on your running shoes, well, whatever it takes, right?
Just a little bit of housekeeping-
If you have signed up as an email subscriber and haven't been getting these posts via email, thanks for letting me know! I think I have it all working now! As you know, the learning curve is still ongoing for me! Thanks for your patience!
Does the gym make you feel guilty? Do you ever make people feel guilty without even trying?
