The sinus infection has resurfaced its ugly head. Was it ever really gone? it didn't really feel like it but I think I was trying to wish it away. I finally gave in and went to a real doctor yesterday. No more self diagnosing and self prescribing cures. Now I'm on the "real" stuff and waiting to feel real better soon! In an effort to get the nasty stuff out of my system I downed an incredibly and tasty Green Smoothie this morning. I thought my youngest was going to barf when he saw the remnants in the car today, but it was really quite tasty! I've been lying low since teaching my normal two classes Friday morning so I decided to try to get a little movement in today. Granted, my head spins, aches and gets quite dizzy but enough is enough. I'm supposed to run that darn Half Marathon SOON! So, I did a wimpy 3 1/2 miles run/walk on the treadmill and a Pilates class. At least it was something.

1 banana, ice, handful spinach, 2 celery stalks 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1 C almond milk
I had some time to think about being bummed at not having my normal routine. It made me think of something that happened a couple of weeks ago. I got aggravated about something and my middle son said, "Don't let it steal your joy, Mom." How many times had he heard me say that? At least it stuck and could come right back to me.
I think being healthy is not always about eating right and exercising to your max. Sometimes being healthy is merely about a mindset. It's about being happy and joyful. So, at times I will tell myself, "don't let it steal your joy." My sister-in-law taught me this and I'm so glad she did. I love that thought because so many times we (I mean I) can let the little things get in the way of my joy or simply enjoying something. I think we all love being happy and at times it's as easy as reminding yourself about what brings us joy.
For me some things that bring me joy are:
- A Hug from my boys
- Lying with my dogs
- Springtime
- Reading a good book
- Church on Sunday morning
- A Good Sweat
- The Beach
- Tulips
- Watching my boys hit a ball, catch a ball, score or perform
- A finished project
- When teaching a workout class just clicks
- Planting
- A Warm Fire
-Surprises
-Southern food
-My Highschool Friends
-Being with Girlfriends
-When my boys are nice to each other
-Preparing good food for my family
-Peace
Find your joy and don't let "IT" steal your joy!
What brings you joy? How cheesy is my list?
