FIT TIP OF THE WEEK? Have Fun! I think that we sometimes, as adults, forget to just have fun. We forget to laugh and "let go". Sometimes the best thing in the world is having a little one in the home because a little kid always seems to break the ice or bring the humor back to any situation, no matter how awful it seems at the time.
In keeping with my 2012 Inspirations (or Resolutions) I had a great lunch yesterday with about 9 fabulous friends. A couple of my friends and I decided that this year we were going to make seeing each other a priority. We had allowed our schedules, childrens' schedules, schools, hair appointments, or what other silly thing take precedence over actually getting together with friends. So, we started a "Lunch Bunch" where we would get together once a month. Of course, we know that everyone will not make it each month, but just to have a group of whoever can come is awesome!
It was great fun - Ladies, I forgot how much fun you all are! Shame on me! We met at 12 0'clock and suddenly I realized it was 3 o'clock and time to meet the bus. While we didn't solve the world's problems, we did help one of our sisters with a pressing school/child issue (or at least we listened and tried to offer advice). Anyway, the point is, we each got out of our own little box for a while and let ourselves just enjoy. How healthy is that?
It may be a cliche' but Laughter is really good medicine! Recent studies show a hearty chuckle triggers the brain to release endorphins, our body's natural painkillers. Think about it for a minute - are there people out there who you haven't actually heard laugh? Or maybe, it's been a while? Are you laughing as often as you could? Sometimes I think I don't laugh enough. Of course, it may because I have a terrible, loud laugh that often ends in snorting when I really get going. It's quite embarrassing to my children. It should be embarrassing to me, but somehow it doesn't seem to bother me.
It's truly a stress relief - and I'm not just making this stuff up! So, my Friday Fit Tip is quite simple - have a good belly laugh! Have Fun!
Hope you all have a fun, laughter-filled weekend!
What makes you laugh? What keeps you from laughing?
